If ever been to Thailand, chances are you would have come across this delicious drink made of 20%-30% tea and 80%-70% ice. The taste varies, and the tea-to-ice ratio depends entirely on the vendor’s mood. Some days, you’ll get a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, while other times, it’s more diluted. It feels like a gamble with every order!

Can’t say for others, but this deliciously sweet drink is the real taste of Thailand for me. However, its pure conjuncture on my part, because who am I but a passing tourist who is visiting this country for only a few weeks to get a slice of its paradise.
WHERE WOULD YOU GET IT?
You can get it from any drinks vendor at a price varying from ฿20 to ฿50. As a budget conscious couple, we stuck to the drinks costing us only ฿20 per glass.
You can request your vendor to adjust its sweetness as per your preference i.e. sweet, less sweet, no sugar etc. etc. If ordering from Grab app, the shops ask for your preference of sweetness on the app as well.
MY REVIEW
If an Indian, you would understand what I am talking about.
A typical Thai Iced Tea is sweet on the first sip and tastes pretty different from whatever you have had until now. But the aftertaste it leaves is that of a strong yet mellow Wagh Bakri Chai/Tea.
Yes, I swear that’s what its after taste is like. It’s totally different yet same. Or should I say – SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT 😉
And this familiarness calls to me everytime I pass by a stall offering this refreshment.
So next you come to Thailand please have a sip and let me know, does it really taste Wagh Bakri Chai or its all in my mind.
Bon voyage 🧳
